Health and Human Services Commission


A program advisory commission that develops a comprehensive health services plan; advises on budget and programs of the Health Department and legislative matters affecting health programs. 

Major Activities
  • Facilitate the development of prioritized local health and human services goals and needs.
  • Recommend mechanisms and actions to meet the prioritized goals to the Mayor and Assembly.
  • Inform the Mayor and Assembly and community on the status of health and human services issues as new strategies are implemented and challenges arise.

Regular Commission Meetings are held quarterly:  Second Wednesday in January, April, July and October.  All meetings are from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Jewel Jones Conference Room (423) at the DHHS Building, 825 L Street.

There are nine seats on the Board.  Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Assembly.  Terms are 3 years and commissioners may be reappointed for an additional 3 year term.
