​Human Services Division​​​​

​​The health department's Human Services Division manages is dedicated to the social wellbeing of our community. The division provides resources to Anchorage's seniors, disabled inviduals, child care providers, and parents. The division also manages a number of HUD funding streams that are used to improve access to housing in Anchorage.

Aging and Disabili​​ty Reso​​urce ​Center​​​​​​​​​

ADRC is a central source of reliable and objective information and assistance regarding long-term care needs for older adults, persons with disabilities and their caregivers living in the Anchorage bowl. (907) 343-7770. AHD, 2nd Floor. Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. Closed daily from 12:00pm - 1:00pm for lunch. ADRC also assists residents in accessing Emergency Solutions Grant program, which offer stabilization services and emergency financial assistance to individuals and families to prevent homelessness.​

Child Car​e Lice​​nsing​​​

​CCL routinely monitors both licensed child care centers and homes within the Municipality of Anchorage through routine on-site announced and unannounced inspections, including investigating reports of concern and complaints about licensed child care facilities and facilities operating without a license. The goal of CCL is to help reduce predictable risk of harm to children, however, CCL cannot guarantee that a facility meets all code requirements at all times.​

Community Safety and​​ Deve​​​lop​​ment

CSD administers the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)​ awards from the federal government, partners with citywide organizations to further affordable housing opportunities for low and moderate-income families, and engages neighborhoods in long-term community development planning.​
