Carbon Monoxide

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and poisonous gas produced by the incomplete burning of carbon in fuel.  Elevated outdoor levels of CO have been shown to induce early onset of angina or heart pain in those who suffer from ischemic heart disease.  Other possible risk groups include fetuses, young infants and the elderly, and those with pre-existing diseases that decrease the availability of oxygen to critical tissues.
