Anchorage re:MADE

Anchorage Solid Waste Services is proud to partner with Anchorage re:MADE, a local non-profit, in an effort to divert reusable goods away from the landfill.
A circular economy means looking at waste differently. there's still some life left in our waste and re:MADE's volunteer artists can help bring discarded items back to life.
Every Saturday (expect for holidays), re:MADE sets up a diversion station at the Central Transfer Station. SW customers have the ability to voluntarily divert their car into re:MADE's collection zone. It's here that re:MADE volunteers sort through a customer's waste and divert reusable pieces like the dresser shown below!

Volunteers and others who cannot otherwise be employed, are paid to repurpose items collected from the landfill and through donations. These crafters create new items for example, engine parts are welded together to make a decorative lamp. Repurposed creative items are available for sale. Visit their website for more details.
