Free Summer Disposal Pass Guidelines and Restrictions​ 

  • Registration for Free Summer Disposal Passes opens May 1 and closes May 31, 2022.​  Register here.
  • All free drop-offs must go to the Anchorage Regional Landfill in Eagle River. Passes will not be accepted at the Central Transfer Station in Midtown Anchorage. Girdwood residents may use passes at the Girdwood Transfer Station.
  • Only current residents of the Municipality of Anchorage may register for a free pas​s. Passes are limited to one per adult ages​ 18 and older per household.  
  • Loads are limited to less than 1,​000 pounds and may not exceed the size of a standard pick-up truck bed. No U-Hauls or Double Axel trailers will be eligible for free disposal. 
  • Additional fees will still apply for any item containing Freon (refrigerators, freezers, etc) or to dispose of more than 40 pounds of household hazardous waste. ​

Who is eligible for a free disposal pass?

Any adult resident of the Municipality of Anchorage may register for one free disposal pass. Passes are limited to one per adult age 18 and older per household​. 

How can I get a free disposal pass?

Fill out the Eventbrite registration​ ​to have a pass emailed directly to you. One person may register for up to two passes at a time for a single address. If more than two adults reside at the address please contact SWS Customer Service for additional passes to be emailed to you.

If you are not able to access the form you may also email freedisposal@anchorageak.gov or call SWS Customer Service at (907) 343-6250 to have a pass mailed to you. 

How do I use it?

Bring the free disposal pass to the Anchorage Regional Landfill along with your free load starting May 1. Present the emailed pass on your smart phone or printed out.

How many passes can I get?

Passes are limited to one per adult ages 18 and older. 

How big can my load be?

Acceptable free loads must be less than 1,000 pounds and no larger than a standard pick-up truck. No oversized trailers or U-haul type vehicles allowed.

What waste will be excluded from free disposal?

Fees apply to any resident disposing of an appliance containing Freon (refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.​) or for the disposal of 40 pounds or more of household hazardous waste.

Will I still get a free pass with my municipal tax assessment?
