Who is eligible for a free disposal pass?
Any resident of the Municipality of Anchorage may register for one free disposal pass. The limit is one pass per resident. Multiple individuals in the same household may register for a pass.
How can I get a free disposal pass?
Fill out the form to have a pass emailed directly to you. You may also email freedisposal@anchorageak.gov or call SWS Customer Service at (907) 343-6262 to have a pass mailed to you. For multiple passes in the same household you must register under a different name.
How do I use it?
Bring the free disposal pass to the Anchorage Regional Landfill along with your free load starting May 4. Present the emailed pass on your smart phone or printed out.
Free disposal passes WILL NOT be accepted at the Central Transfer Station in Midtown Anchorage. All free loads must go to the Anchorage Regional Landfill in Eagle River. Girdwood residents may use passes at the Girdwood Transfer Station.
Residents should only use SWS disposal facilities if they have no other disposal options while the Hunker Down order remains in place.
How many passes can I get?
Passes are limited to one per person.
How big can my load be?
Acceptable free loads must be less than 1,000 pounds and no larger than a standard pick-up truck. No oversized trailers or U-haul type vehicles allowed.
What waste will be excluded from free disposal?
Fees apply to any resident disposing of an appliance containing Freon (refrigerators, air conditioners) or for the disposal of 40 pounds or more of household hazardous waste.
Will I still get a free pass with my municipal tax assessment?
Yes, free passes will still be distributed with municipal tax statements for eligible residential property owners. If you have questions about whether you are eligible for a pass please contact MOA Property Appraisal.
When does my pass expire?
