Welcoming Anchorage Week Kicks-Off

ANCHORAGE – This week, Anchorage joins cities from across the United States in recognizing and highlighting the economic, cultural and social contributions that immigrants and refugees make to our communities. As part of the project, the Municipality of Anchorage will work together with local businesses and organizations and the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation to reinforce Anchorage as a place proud of our heritage and poised to position ourselves as a globally competitive, culturally vibrant 21st-century community.

September 12th to the 20th marks Welcoming Anchorage Week. All events throughout the week will be open to the public.

  • Monday, September 14th 11:30am-1pm: Make it Monday Forum presented by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce at the Dena’ina Center, second floor. $25 for Chamber members, $35 for non-members.
  • Wednesday, September 16th 12pm – 2:30pm: Naturalization Ceremony and Reception hosted by the Municipality of Anchorage & Mayor Ethan Berkowitz at the Loussac Library Assembly Chambers, first floor. Free and open to the public.
  • Thursday, September 17th 6:30pm – 8pm: Reception and Open House presented by Anchorage Museum, in the Museum Atrium. Join the Anchorage Museum for an evening reception and archives open house to enjoy family albums from the Museum’s Library.
  • Saturday, September 19th 2pm – 5pm: Welcoming Anchorage Celebration at the Northway Mall. Cultural entertainment, cultural food trucks, booths, and more!
