U.S.S. Anchorage Public Tours

 - Thursday, May 2 starting at 1:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00p.m.

 - Friday, May 3 starting at 2:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00p.m.

NO TICKETS REQUIRED, PUBLIC TOURS ARE FREE

TOUR INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES:

  1. Parking for the tour shuttle and the only access to the U.S.S. Anchorage ship tour is at the Northway Mall and the Sears Mall. The Port of Anchorage (POA) is a secured facility and members of the general public will not have access through the main POA entrance.
  2. Visitors, both adults and children must be prepared to walk through a metal detector.
  3. Adults, over the age of 18, must provide government issued identification such as a driver’s license, passport or military credentials.
  4. Visitors are highly recommended to wear sensible shoes and pants. Please refrain from bringing backpacks and large handbags; space is limited on the motor coach and the vessel.
  5. The ship is not handicapped accessible. If you are handicapped, virtual tours are strongly recommended, as climbing ladders and walking up ramps may be involved in touring the ship. A tour of the ship can be found online after May 1, 2013 at 8:00 a.m.
  6. Absolutely no smoking at the Port of Anchorage during public tours.
  7. No weapons, including pocket knives allowed aboard the ship or at the Port of Anchorage.

PERMITTED AND PROHIBITED ITEMS, FOR ACCESS TO THE USS ANCHORAGE

All bags will be inspected for prohibited items and if any items are found, security forces personnel will give guests the option to return them to their vehicles to store the prohibited item(s).

The list of permitted and prohibited items, available for immediate view at www.muni.org, includes but is not limited to the following items:

Permitted Items

  • Cellular phones
  • Fanny packs and small purses
  • Cameras and camcorders
  • Umbrellas
  • 20 ounce or smaller bottled water in clear plastic containers

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons (regardless of permit) including firearms and knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools), and replica or toy weapons·
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Pets, other than service animals
  • Glass containers· Ice chests or coolers
  • Bags larger than a small purse or fanny pack
  • Backpacks/Camelbacks
  • Bicycles, roller skates, and skateboards

*Any other items deemed inappropriate by security personnel.
