New Director of Development Services named for the Municipality of Anchorage

ANCHORAGE— Today, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz announced the appointment of Bob Doehl as the new Director of the Development Services Department and Building Official. In this position, Doehl will be responsible for overseeing municipal staff and divisions that handle building permitting, construction inspections, and municipal enforcement of land use, right-of-way, and building codes.

“I am honored to serve Mayor Berkowitz in building the Anchorage of tomorrow,” said Doehl. “I look forward to working with the talented municipal staff and our customers in helping good development happen.”

Prior to coming to the MOA, Doehl served as the Deputy Commissioner for the State of Alaska Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs. In this role, he supervised state employees that performed facilities management and construction for the Alaska Army and Air National Guard. Doehl served for 32 years as a member of the Alaska Air National Guard and retired at the rank of colonel.

Doehl is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law and has served as a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice and as an attorney with the State of Alaska Department of Law
