ANCHORAGE – Mayor Ethan Berkowitz will join the Anchorage Department of Health and Human Services to unveil the new public health outreach trailer, “Wellness on Wheels.” As part of the event, Mayor Berkowitz will receive a tetanus booster shot and give tours of the new 35 foot all-weather mobile trailer. The roll-out festivities will start today at 10am in the parking lot of the Anchorage Department of Health and Human Services building (825 L St).
“A healthy Anchorage is a strong Anchorage. ‘Wellness on Wheels’ will increase access to affordable health care services,” stated Mayor Berkowitz.
The mobile clinic was obtained and outfitted with a $169,023 State of Alaska Public Health Nursing Grant. The clinic includes one exam room, a refrigerator for vaccines and sample storage, and is accessible with a wheel chair lift. The mobile health clinic will bring services offered at the health department direct to local neighborhoods.
