Mayor Berkowitz Announces New Public Transit Director

ANCHORAGE– Mayor Ethan Berkowitz announces Jody Karcz as the new Public Transit Director for the Municipality of Anchorage.  During her 30-year tenure with Anchorage’s Public Transportation Department, she has held many positions, including: Rideshare Coordinator, Senior Planner, Superintendent of Operations and Maintenance, and Director.

“Jody’s enthusiasm and experience are key ingredients that will help Anchorage assess and improve public safety, accessibility, and service throughout our public transportation network,” said Mayor Ethan Berkowitz.

The Public Transit Director is responsible for the Municipality’s People Mover bus service, AnchorRIDES, and the vanpool programs. 

“I am delighted to return to the Public Transportation Department under the Berkowitz administration.  The department’s mission, customers and employees are near and dear to my heart.  I look forward to making sure Anchorage's public transportation system matches the communities’ needs,” stated Ms. Karcz.
