Mayor Dan Sullivan will join community members and library donors at a dedication and grand opening ceremony for the new Chugiak-Eagle River Branch Library on Wed., Aug. 12, at 7 p.m., at the new library site (Eagle River Town Center, 12001 Business Blvd., Suite 100).
The inclusion of a modern library in Eagle River Town Center has been a community vision for years. The 19,000 square-foot library offers expanded book and media collections; enhanced computer technology; separate areas for children and teens; group study rooms; and a large, welcoming reading area for all ages.
Family programs will take place throughout the day, including a reception and open house from 6 to 7 p.m. and the opening ceremony from 7 to 8 p.m.
Major funding for the project was provided by the Rasmuson Foundation; the State of Alaska; BP; the Chugiak-Eagle River Foundation; Anchorage Library Foundation; and Friends of the Library.
2 p.m.: ‘An Artistic Experience’ with Don Russell the Magic Guy, family program
4 p.m.: The Imaginarium presents ‘The Big Chill,’ a family program
6 - 7 p.m..: food, drinks, music and Eagle River Town Center Open House
7 - 8 p.m.: ribbon-cutting & grand opening ceremony
