ANCHORAGE, AK – The Municipality of Anchorage and Cook Inlet Lending Center (CILC) announced the recipients of $5 million in relief funding for small businesses and sole proprietors impacted by COVID-19. Grants will be awarded to 495 businesses to support business operations, including but not limited to, payroll, rent, utilities, and paying vendors. This funding follows the first round that awarded $1 million to small businesses, sole proprietors, and nonprofit organizations.
This $5 million in relief funding will support 245 waitlisted businesses and sole proprietors from the first round, plus an additional 250 businesses chosen through random selection. Award recipients will receive $10,000 each once CILC completes processing and verifying applications from eligible businesses.
Eligible businesses:
- had less than $1 million in gross revenue in 2019;
- had no more than twenty total full-time or part-time employees at any one time in 2019;
- are not age-restricted businesses, such as a bar or marijuana retail establishment; and
- are located in the Municipality of Anchorage.
Demand for the second round of small business relief exceeded available funding, and the Municipality is developing options to provide additional small business relief funds.
This grant program is in addition to more than $14 million dedicated to businesses in the hospitality and tourism sectors, $10 million for child care providers, $4.5 million for public lands jobs, more than $3 million for nonprofit organizations, and $2 million for arts and culture organizations.
