2016 Mayor's Charity Ball Raises Over $156,000 for Anchorage Non-Profits

Girdwood Health Clinic, Anchorage Opera Company, Four Valleys Community School, and Lutheran Social Services selected as 2017 recipients

ANCHORAGE – Today, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz announced the 2016 Mayor’s Charity Ball raised $156,479 for local non-profits. Challenge Alaska received $41,051, Beacon Hill $34,806, Chugiak Youth Sports Association $37,241, and Anchorage International Film Festival received $43,381.   

“The Mayor’s Charity Ball is a great event that makes Anchorage a better place,” said Mayor Ethan Berkowitz.

Mayor Berkowitz also selected, from a random drawing, the 2017 Mayor’s Charity Ball recipients; Girdwood Health Clinic, Anchorage Opera Company, Four Valleys Community School, and Lutheran Social Services. 

“We look forward to continuing the tradition of supporting local Anchorage charities for another year,” said Henry Penny, President of the Board of Directors for the Mayor’s Charity Ball.

Since its 1994 inception, the Mayor’s Charity Ball has distributed over $3.34 million to 77 different Anchorage charities.
