ANCHORAGE – April 6th at 2 PM the media is invited to the State Hazmat Symposium and Field Exercise at the Anchorage Fire Department Training Center. There will be hazardous materials simulations that give haz-mat teams from across the State valuable training and the opportunity to test their skills. This event occurs every two years in the Arctic Shield planning cycle. Some of the simulations that will occur include a victim extraction from a hazardous chemical event, local transportation spills and a AK RR railcar emergency. All of the simulations are events that could happen at any time in Alaska.

Media participants are asked to park in the Regional Campus parking lot closest to the Fire Training Center, the North East lot on Airport Heights across from the Blood Bank. Proceed on foot through the Training Center Building A to Building C where protective gear will be issued. Contact Battalion Chief James Dennis on site.
