Nominate a Community Hero

There are heroes among us. Do you know one? Heroes aren't always the ones wearing uniforms. They can be everyday people, just like you, who work to make our community more prepared for disasters or who respond to emergencies risking their own safety to help others. These heroes save lives, build more resilient communities, and they inspire us all to do more and be more. The Muni’s Office of Emergency Management wants to honor our Community Heroes during National Preparedness Month in September. Five nominees will be selected as the 2011 Anchorage Community Heroes and will be honored on Sept. 16, 2011, at “An Evening with Heroes.”
Don’t know your hero personally? That’s OK! You may nominate any Anchorage resident whose volunteerism inspires you or whose act of heroism was not related to their job. If you don’t know their contact information, we will do our best to track it down if they are selected as a Community Hero.
To nominate your hero:
STEP 1.
Between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31, go to myhero.com and create a page for your hero. When creating your hero page enter Anchorage in the school/organization field.
STEP 2.
Go to muni.org/oem and click on the link ‘Who’s Your Hero?’ Complete the form to let us know who you nominated so that we can notify you and your hero if they are selected as one of the five 2011 Anchorage Community Heroes.
