Local Government
The Municipality of Anchorage is the third and final level of government for Anchorage residents. This level of government most likely has the greatest impact on residents because it deals with pertinent issues such as public safety (police & fire), public transportation, libraries, museums, and parks & recreation. Unlike the two other levels of government, city government only has two branches, executive and legislative.
Legislative Branch
The Anchorage Assembly is the law-making body of the Municipality of Anchorage. Visit the Assembly Page for more info on how this part of government works.
Executive Branch
Mayor Dan Sullivan is the chief executive of Anchorage. Visit other areas of this website to find out what the different departments of the city do.
