Military & Veterans Affairs Committees: Responsibilities and Tasks

MOA LIAISON COMMITTEE:

  • Establish liaison between MOA and M&V communities.
  • Report  and make recommendations (at least annually) to the Mayor and Assembly regarding:
  1. Adoption, change or repeal of MOA laws, rules, regulations, restrictions or other matters affecting M&V communities.
  2. Issues and matters concerning M&Vs and their families.
  3. Issues relative to care, maintenance and use of any MOA-owned Veterans Memorials or Veterans Parks; initialing informing appropriate MOA Department.
  4. Activities that may occur on holidays and other ceremonial occasions and suggest participation in them when necessary.
  •  Coordinate with other Boards and Commissions dealing with M&V issues, when necessary.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE:

  • Conduct various public relations activities to inform MOA citizens about M&V’s contributions to community and to address community problems involving M&Vs. 
  • Provide advice and supervision for, and participate in MOA-sponsored Military or Veterans’ Conferences.
  • Open and maintain communication with M&V communities and periodically hold Hearings on matters of importance to M&V communities, MOA and its citizens.

EVENTS COMMITTEE:

Determine M&V events/activities that may occur on holidays and other ceremonial occasions.

  • Maintain a calendar of such events/activities, and well in advance, suggest that the Administration participation in them or not.

FACILITIES COMMITTEE:

Prepare and maintain a master list of all MOA-owned Veterans’ Memorials and Veteran’s Parks, which includes visual documentation (photographs).

  •  Determine issues relative to care, maintenance and use of any MOA-owned Veterans’ Memorials or Veteran’s Parks. 
  • Provide advice and supervision for, and participate in, fundraising activities for construction of MOA-owned Veterans’ Memorials and Parks.
