Boards and Commissions
As appointed officials, members of Municipal Boards and Commissions are subject to the provisions of the Municipal Ethics Code (AMC 1.15). They also bear personal responsibility for compliance with it. Each member receives a copy of the code and a copy of the Disclosure of Present Economic Interest form (below) as part of their appointment packet. By law, a board member or commissioner must file the completed form with the Municipal Clerk's office within 30 days of their appointment.
The ethics PowerPoint presentation below highlights relevant parts of the ethics code for board and commission members. It was written as a guide for board and commission staff to assist in training their respective members. It should answer many common questions. For additional advice or assistance, board and commission members may contact their designated ethics officer, Karen Bretz, at 343-7180 or email@example.com. Inquiries may also be sent directly to the Board of Ethics in care of the Municipal Clerk’s Office at 343-4311.
