EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT |
Mark Jacobsen is a Systems Programmer II in Municipal Light & Power’s Systems & Communication Division. Over the span of his 30-year career at ML&P, he has been a key part of the technological growth of the utility and managed many life cycle replacements of the entire Customer Service system in a seamless way. Technology has changed monumentally since 1985—and Mark has been helping ML&P "keep the lights on" for Anchorage residents since the days of floppy disks!
In 2014, Mark was recognized by the Municipality of Anchorage with a merit award for outstanding performance. He took the initiative, outside of his normal workload, to develop a programming code that ensured ML&P’s 2014 refund plan was executed in an organized and error-free manner that benefitted customers.

NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS |
On the April 5th ballot Anchorage voters will consider bond packages to improve our roads, increase public safety, and enhance our parks and trails. The construction bid environment is competitive and borrowing rates are at an all-time low. An investment in Anchorage indicates a belief in our collective future. It also attracts private investment and encourages economic development.
Projects in the bond range from the redevelopment of Spenard Road, to improvements to Campbell Creek Trail and the Coastal Trail. Revitalized surface transportation in Spenard will create bike lines and wider sidewalks for a more accessible and vibrant neighborhood. Community gardens promote resiliency through local food security. The Anchorage Fire Department will receive a new ambulance and cardiac monitors, while Anchorage Police Department headquarters will replace a deteriorated roof.
