EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

This year Project Management and Engineering honors three employees with a combined 75 years of service. Lori Schanche joined Parks and Recreation in 1991 to manage design and construction of park, playground, and trail projects including Anchorage's first skateboard park. In 2000, Lori became a project manager at PM&E and was designated the Municipal Trails Coordinator. Bob Palmer joined the Municipality as a Watershed Projects Administrator in 1993 responsible for the development and coordination of the Municipality's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. Finally, Vicki Gerken joined the Municipality as a temporary for Community Work Service, then accepted a position as Office Assistant for the Parks & Recreation, Design and Development Section in 1989, then joined Project Management and Engineering in 1998, and is now the Realty Officer III.

We thank all three for their hard work and dedication on behalf of the people of Anchorage!

NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS

This year the National Parks Service celebrates 100 years of encouraging people to get outside and use public lands. Here in Anchorage we know the value of public parks, trails, and greenbelts; our world class park systems brings tourists from all over the world to Anchorage. This type of tourism drives our economy and makes us a great place to live, work, and play. This summer get outside and play in your favorite park, ride a bike on a new trail, or hike in a State Park. Public lands are meant for public consumption, let's show the National Park Service just how much Anchorage loves the great outdoors!
