OCTOBER 7, 2012

On Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at approximately 8pm the Anchorage Fire Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a structure fire in the 600 block of Kim Pl.  The caller also reported that there were still occupants inside of the residence.

The Anchorage Fire Department dispatched 15 units to the fire.  First arriving units advised that smoke and flames were visible from the residence.  Crews were notified that there was still an occupant in one of the bedrooms.  Crews made entry into the residence and accessed the room where the occupant was said to be.  Crews encountered heavy black smoke from around the door, when they opened the door they extinguished a small portion of the fire and began a search of the room.  They immediately located the patient and removed them from the structure where they were treated and transported to a local hospital.

There were several other patients on scene, a second patient was transported to a local hospital all others were treated and released on scene.  Several pets were in the residence at the time of the fire and they were transported to Animal Control for shelter.

The fire was contained to the bedroom where the fire started.  Estimated loss is approximately $30,000.  Cause of fire is still under investigation.
