On Thursday, September 25, 2014 at approximately 1:47pm, Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a three story condo that was fully engulfed in flames at 6700 Block of Lunar Dr. AFD dispatched nine fire apparatus to the scene, prior to arrival additional resources were requested. Upon arrival crews confirmed that the three story condo was fully engulfed and a 2nd alarm was called and additional resources were dispatched.
Crews reported that the condo was occupied at the time of the alarm. The detector in the condo did activate, shortly after the alarm sounded a person working in the area knocked on the door of the residence to inform the occupant that condo was on fire and he was able to safely exit. The fire was contained to the condo that it had originated in.
Two AFD firefighters were injured and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The fire is currently under investigation and loss is unknown at this time.
