Wind Storm Debris Disposal at Wood Lots

Due to the urgent need to dispose of wind storm debris, the Eagle River Wood Lot seasonal closure has been extended through the close of business on Saturday, September 15, 2012. The ER Wood Lot hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. Only branches and tree segments are accepted (with leaves attached. Yes, that question has been asked).
Bags of leaves are not accepted at any of the Wood Lots. You may dispose of leaves with normal refuse collection or pay for drop off at the transfer station, by the load.
The Girdwood Wood Lot will continue operations on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, until further notice.
Rules for the Eagle River & Girdwood Wood Lots:
All wood must be secured - no loose material allowed.
Wood must be cut in 6 foot or less lengths.
Brush and woody debris from the clearing of defensible space from wildfire only. No lot clearing.
Please make a separate trip for garbage & recycling! Mixed loads (garbage, recycling, woodlot) will be charged for dumping.
No flatbed or dump style commercial vehicles allowed at woodlot.
Do not gather firewood at the AFD/SWS woodlots. Scavenging is not allowed.
Residential loads only.
Trailers may be used by private residential customers.
No stumps, garbage, lumber or construction materials.
The South Anchorage Wood Lot will continue operations from Thursday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This lot is operated by the Anchorage Soil and Water Conservation District. There is a user fee charged for this lot. Each pickup truck load will cost $10 and a dump truck load is $20. Firewood collecting (free of charge) is acceptable at this location. The lot will remain open until further notice.
