Beach Lake Regional Park Master Plan Update
6/22/10 NEWS! Assembly Hearing Now Required
The Beach Lake Regional Park Master Plan WILL be going to the Anchorage Assembly after all. We have been contacted by the Planning and Zoning Department with a reversal of their earlier decision with the reasoning that the Assembly should hear it because:
- Beach Lake Park is a significant regional park
- The new Title 21 zoning has not yet clarified which parks “should” be adopted by the Anchorage Assembly as elements of the comp plan.
This adds one more step to the approval process, and additional opportunities for public comment. The Assembly hearing date is anticipated to be 90 days following the Planning and Zoning Hearing (July 12th).
July 12th 2010 Anchorage Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission Hearing
On July 12th the Beach Lake Master Plan will be considered by the Anchorage P&Z Commission. Many of you have provided input and comments up to this point (thank you!) which have been incorporated or summarized in the Draft Plan, which The Planning and Zoning Commission members will receive for review. The commission also is happy to hear new testimony at the hearing, and accept written input (due by July 7th). Procedures for providing input to P&Z are as follows:
To testify at the hearing: Each individual will be allowed 3 minutes to speak at the hearing; generally, maps, graphics and photographs are allowed. Please pick up an agenda upon arriving and wait for the hearing to open. There is no need to sign up prior.
