Ordinance No. AO 2019-23, an ordinance of the Anchorage Assembly amending certain provisions of Anchorage Municipal Code Title 12, Taxation, to establish a presumption that owners of real property significantly damaged and devalued as a result of the Point Mackenzie Earthquake (PMQ) have compelling reasons they were unable to specify grounds for reducing their valuations before the period to appeal assessments to the Board of Equalization expired in order to allow late-filed appeals, requesting the Municipal Assessor to investigate and consider issuing corrected assessments or reassessments for real properties filing for State or Federal Disaster Recovery and Relief Support from the PMQ that did not appeal their 2019 Real Property Assessment, and to provide for prospective tax relief for properties damaged in any future earthquake after the annual property assessment process is completed.
